Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are an Archipielago of seven islands. All are of volcanic origin with black sand beaches. Situated in the Atlantic Ocean, off the northwestern coast of Africa, the islands actually belong to Spain, and form an autonomous community of that country. The islands were named Canaria (Latin canis, dog) because of the descriptions of the large numbers of wild dogs roaming the islands when they were first sighted. The Canary Islands are supposedly where the Garden of Hesperides of Greek myth lie. With almost 365 days of sunshine a year and only a 4 hour flight from and to the UK, buying property in the Canary Islands is a sound investment.

Tenerife
The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is billed as the island of eternal spring, and has almost constant good weather. Boasting the highest point in Spain, Mount Teide a non active volcano, at its centre, and combining this with its location on the map, Tenerife has become an island of many different micro climates, from dense forest to moonscape. Tenerife has the best European living standards and is an Island where it is very easy to combine business with pleasure. With modern commercial and cultural offerings and first level medical and health care assistance, it still manages to keep it traditions and culture alive.
La Gomera
Also known as the beautiful isle (La Isla Bonita), La Gomera is the second smallest of the Canary Islands. Rich in vegetation, history and culture La Gomera is a quiet, tranquil and picturesque place to purchase a property away from the hustle and bustle of major tourism.
Fuerteventura
Located just 100 kilometers off the coast of North Africa, Fuerteventura is the second biggest of the islands, and has the longest beaches in the Archipielago making the island a paradise for sun, beach and watersports enthusiasts. The island is widely believed to be the oldest of the Canary Islands. Its strange form was created out of a series of volcanic eruptions many thousands of years ago It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August.
Lanzarote
The easternmost of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has 213 km of coastline, of which 10 km are sand, 16.5 km are beach, and the remainder are rocky. Its dramatic landscape includes the mountain ranges of Famara (671 m) in the North and Ajaches (608 m) to the South. Tourism has been the mainstay of Lanzarotes economy for the past 50 years. Its climate ranges from mild to hot. During the day the temperature can reach around 35°C in the summer and 25°C in the winter.
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is the second largest island in the Canary Islands, located 210 km from the northwest coast of Africa This island is called a "Miniature Continent" due to the different climates and variety of landscapes found. Most tourists stay in the south of the island, which is sunnier and has less rain than the north. There is a large bird park in the south, as well as many beach resort communities. The number of annual visitors is 2.2 million, mostly visiting the southern part of the island.

Cape Verde
Cape Verde is an Archipielago off the western coast of Africa. It is formed by 10 main islands and about 8 islets. Situated in the North Atlantic Ocean the previously-uninhabited islands were discovered and colonized by the Portuguese in the 15th century, where they subsequently became a trading centre for African slaves. Most Cape Verdeans now descend from both groups.
Each island is different from the others in terms of landscape, people and culture, although most boast glorious postcard perfect white sandy beaches, and with over 10 to choose from there will be something for almost everyone.
Many say Cape Verde is at the stage the Canary Islands were at 20 years ago, and with European eyes turning towards the Archipielago many property developers and investors are beginning to see the benefits of the area.
